Career of Rick Froberg

After the disbandment of Pitchfork, Rick Froberg and John Reis joined forces again to form the highly influential post-hardcore band Drive Like Jehu, leaving an indelible mark on the 1990s music scene. Taking on guitar duties and lead vocals, Froberg played a pivotal role in shaping the band’s distinct sound. Drive Like Jehu’s two seminal albums, Yank Crime and Drive Like Jehu, demonstrated their mastery of intricate rhythms, angular guitar riffs, and Froberg’s powerful vocals. Notably, Froberg’s lyrical prowess stood out, addressing themes of alienation, isolation, and identity with a poignant depth.

In the early 2000s, Froberg embarked on a new musical endeavor by forming Hot Snakes alongside Reis and other talented musicians. Compared to Drive Like Jehu, Hot Snakes embraced a more direct and aggressive musical approach, characterized by Froberg’s urgent and intense vocal delivery. The band produced four albums and an EP, with their latest offering, Jericho Sirens, gracing the music scene in 2018.

Aside from his work with Pitchfork, Drive Like Jehu, and Hot Snakes, Froberg engaged in various collaborations, showcasing his versatility as a musician. One notable collaboration was with his brother, Justin Froberg, in the band The Last of the Juanitas, while another noteworthy endeavor involved joining forces with musician Rob Crow in the band Thingy. Furthermore, Froberg formed the band Obits, which captivated audiences with their three albums released between 2009 and 2013. Throughout these ventures, Froberg consistently demonstrated his creative prowess and ability to push the boundaries of his musical expression.
