When it's time to take a photo, two are taken - one from the back-facing shot and another from the selfie snapper.

BeReal was founded by French entrepreneur Alexis Barreyat in January 2020.
Before BeReal, Barreyat worked at GoPro and was a Video Producer at Worm, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Outside of his occupations, little information is available on Barreyat as he tends to stay out of the spotlight.
